Geotechnics is a geotechnical engineering services firm located in Portland, Oregon, serving private and public clients in Oregon and Washington. We consistently provide high quality services at reasonable prices.
At Geotechnics, we understand the importance of having the proper tools to complete our work efficiently and thrive in a competitive environment. We are committed to staying at the forefront of innovations in equipment and technology. We have our own geotechnical laboratory where we perform most tests necessary to complete our site evaluations. For those tests we cannot complete in-house, we have trusted subconsultants to get the work done quickly and to our high standards. For field work, we have an impressive inventory of equipment for sampling, in-situ testing, and instrumentation. Likewise, for engineering analysis and design, we invest in software packages to aid in efficient evaluation of slope stability, site seismic response, pile design, retaining wall design, seepage studies, and other more-routine geotechnical evaluations.
Geotechnics is a certified Oregon Small Business Enterprise (OSBE).
About the Owner
André Maré has over 30 years of experience in geotechnical consulting, mostly in Oregon and Washington. His work experience has covered a wide spectrum, from small to large and from simple to complex. Whether working on a large public works project or a small residential property, André strives to complete work of the highest quality while maintaining exceptional client service. André enjoys his work immensely and he welcomes complex and challenging projects.
André began his career in 1987 after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona. His first employment was in Southern Africa, working as a field engineer on the Lesotho Highlands Water Project for a year. He next spent several years in Southern California working on a wide variety of projects which included large housing developments as well as numerous forensic engineering assignments. In 1993, André found himself in Seattle pursuing a graduate degree in geotechnical engineering at the University of Washington, working under Dr. Bob Holtz and studying the filtration behavior of geotextiles. His post-graduate career has continued in consulting, all in the Pacific Northwest, with four years in Seattle and about 25 years in Portland.
